The Turkish double-bass player Onur Özkaya will perform Tubin’s double-bass concerto on 15. December 2023 at the Istanbul AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall. He is accompanied by the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alessandro Crudele. Özkaya made the first performance of Tubin’s double-bass concerto in Turkey at Eskişehir on Tubin’s centenary year 2005.

On October 6-9, 2022, the TubIN festival will take place in Tartu. The centrepieces of the festival are Tubin’s symphonies nos 5 and 6. Information about the festival is available here.

Johan Randvere will perform the “Ballad on the Theme of Mart Saar” by Eduard Tubin at the Rzeszow Philharmonic in Poland on August 25.

June 8 marks the 117th birthday of Eduard Tubin and the 11th birthday of the Tubin Museum.
5 pm, a recital of Atlan Karp (baritone) and Andre Hinn (piano) in the chamber hall of the Tubin Museum takes place.
After the concert, the museum will open the long-awaited “Tubin’s Car” exposition in the garage of the Alatskivi castle parking lot. The composer’s car Plymouth Valiant and an overview of Tubins’ travels are on display.
The event is free and is supported by the Cultural Endowment.

Eduard Tubin’s 2nd Symphony “Legendary” was performed on 2 May by the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its chief conductor Kazuyoshi Akiyama. Two works by Shostakovitch were also on the program: “The Golden Age” and 1st Violin Concerto. The concert was first scheduled for February but was then cancelled due to Covid. The program carried a message from Eino Tubin, who wrote: “It can be seen as a struggle between black and white, where white ultimately is victorious. Today, 85 years later, one could easily associate with the brave fight of the Ukrainians. Historical parallels can be made, giving life to legends.” 

Özlem Er Civelek defended a doctoral dissertation on Tubin’s double bass concerto.
