A “Classical Music Festival in memory of Eduard Tubin” will take place at the Antiphellos Ancient Theatre in Kaş, Antalya, on 12, 13 and 14 September 2019. It is directed by Burak Tüzün, who has conducted several Tubin works over the past years. The Apollon Trio will perform compositions by its flutist Halit Turgay in addition to Piazzolla’s “Oblivion”. Three pianists will give recitals: Cem Babacan, Kenan Tatlici and Basar Can Kivrak. They will together perform all of Tubin’s piano preludes, in addition to works by Liszt, Mussorgsky, Beethoven, Franck, Debussy, Chopin, and Rachmaninov.
The Antiphellos Theatre is unique among Turkish open-air theatres by having an open sea view and facing the Greek island Kastelorizo. It was recently renovated. Several concerts with Tubin’s music have taken place at the theatre with, for instance, Vanalinna segakoor and the Maaten family and Paula Pärtlas.
